Picked this up randomly at the library (the pleasures of the browse! Libraries are magic!), and it was such a cool, strange, eerie book. A surreal road trip adventure story of two queer women, one adolescent and one middle-aged, working through their grief and sorting out who they want to be. Ominous and tender in equal measure, familiar yet deeply strange. I kept thinking, wow, I’ve never read anything like this before, even though there was also the pleasure of feeling like I could identify various influences (Pynchon, surely) or familiar tropes or ideas.
Definitely gonna seek out more of Walden’s work.
