About Me

My name is Katarzyna Bartoszyńska — Kasia for short. I’m a reader, a writer, an academic, a translator, a mother, a lover of good food… a lot of things, and never sure what order they belong in. I’m currently an assistant associate professor, jointly appointed in the Department of Literatures in English and the Program of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, at Ithaca College. Before that, I was at the English Department at Monmouth College, in Monmouth, Illinois, and the Program of Cultures, Civilizations, and Ideas, at Bilkent University, in Ankara, Turkey. I earned my PhD in Comparative Literature from the University of Chicago in 2011, and my BA from Reed College.

I was born in Warsaw, Poland, and moved to the US with my parents when I was a kid. Both of my parents are mathematicians, as were most of the adults that I interacted with as a child, and that…might tell you a lot about me.
